Peach Pink Wig – Super Simple Mirai Kuriyama Cosplay

This week while sorting through my wig collection, I realized I did not own any peach/pink wigs.  As I scrolled through Amazon, I found this Pink Lolita Wig which reminded me of the anime character Mirai Kuriyama from Kyoukai no Kanata (Beyond the Boundary).  I decided then to do a simple cosplay of her.

Who is Mirai Kuriyama?

Mirai Kuriyama is the second main character in the anime series Kyoukai no Kanata.  She is part of the Spirit World Warrior blood line who’s duty is to keep the world safe from supernatural creatures.  Her ability allows her to manipulate her own blood into different forms.  Because this form of blood manipulation is considered unorthodox by the Spirit World Warrior Clan, they do not accept her as one of their own.

Others with the Spirit World Warrior abilities make it their occupation to kill Youmu (supernatural creatures) in exchange for payments.  Kuriyama struggles to make ends meet as she is often too afraid to slay the Youmus.  She then meets Akihito Kanbara, a young immortal boy from her school who is half human half Youmu.  He joins Kuriyama on adventures and helps give her the confidence she needs in defeating the Youmus.

Peach Pink Wig

I purchased the Pink Lolita Wig off of Amazon.  With my prime membership, the wig was very affordable and I as able to get next day delivery.  It was the exact color I was looking for and the waves were beautiful.  The back of the wig is adjustable to fit most head sizes and it is a very comfortable wig.  I did have to do a lot of restyling for the bangs.  I trimmed quite a bit and tried my best to have it fit my face as best as possible.

My only complaint about this wig would be the texture of the hair.  Being made with a cheaper synthetic fiber, it did not feel like my real hair.  I have noticed wigs that are more shiny in color tend to feel less real and others that are made from kanekalon fiber tend to feel more realistic.  With that being said, this wig was a great deal, and perfect for my cosplay.  I probably would not wear it on a daily basis, but wearing it occasionally works great.

Red Glasses

The Classic Round Glasses I also purchased off of Amazon.  It arrived within 3 days of purchase and looked exactly like Kuriyama’s glasses from the anime.  The glasses are very flimsy but very inexpensive.  I would only recommend these glasses for cosplay.  Day to day use is probably not the best. For cosplay use it is perfect!

Makeup

For my makeup, I went with a very simply look.  For the base of my face I used primer, foundation, concealer, and highlighter.  I used white eyeshadow on the inner most parts of my eyes, false top and bottom lashes, and blush to top it all off.  For a more in depth explanation on how I do my makeup and the products I use, please visit my posts on E-Girl Inspired Makeup and Cosplay Makeup Essentials.

Final Thoughts

This cosplay is by far the simplest cosplay I have done so far.  The peach pink wig and red glasses were super affordable and I wore a Japanese school girl uniform and pink cardigan that I already had sitting in my closet.  I would absolutely recommend this cosplay to any cosplayers on a time crunch or anyone just starting out.  I hope you enjoyed this look!  Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or comments. <3
